Dennis Kovach
Prior to earning his Bachelor of Science in Music Education degree from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania; Dennis had led and performed with numerous combo groups in the Butler area during his teen years. Among these rock/variety bands (Soundd, The Atlantic Ocean, The Fabulous Sweat Band, Bazuma, A Touch Of Class) arose first-place winners for: the Battle of the Bands, high-school productions, and an Easter Seals benefit concert.
Initially trained in classical piano from the age of seven by Eva Thomas Smeyers, Dennis continued on to expand his musicianship by transcribing song arrangements directly from the recordings of popular artists in the 60's and 70's. The resulting skills of ear-training and theory became an essential asset throughout his college years, likewise benefiting his post-college bands (Savoz, Max Packard, WattsUp), and ultimately has served to set a solid foundation for his private students.
In addition to the piano during college, The guitar played an integral part of most every combo band since the 60's.
Dennis presently performs as a worship musician for the Church of the Living Word in Butler, PA, and performs seasonal recitals with his North Hills and Butler students, whom he has been serving as a full-time private instructor for over 15 years.
When not at "Around The Corner," you might find Dennis sailing, bicycling, hiking, picnicking with friends, at the movies, or remodeling his home.
